Their high Level of Assurance identity scheme traditionally required in-person office visits for issuance. They partnered with vendor Signicat to find a fully automated remote identification solution that could satisfy rigid auditing and supervision demands.

Signicat implemented its ReadID solution, providing NFC-based identity document verification, liveness detection, and facial recognition for onboarding. This allowed SK ID Solutions to deliver eIDAS-compliant Qualified Certificates digitally, 24/7, at a lower cost. The internationally audited solution was approved by the Estonian supervisory authority, reducing the sign-up process to just a couple of minutes and proving to be more secure than traditional in-person methods.
