Case Study: Broadmedia achieves large-scale, secure DCP distribution over the Internet with Signiant

A Signiant Case Study

Preview of the Broadmedia Case Study

Terrestrial Digital Cinema Distribution Using Signiant Technology

Broadmedia, a leading Japanese content distributor, set out to replace satellite and shipped hard drives with terrestrial Internet delivery for Digital Cinema Packages (DCPs). The company faced large file sizes, simultaneous multi-theater downloads that cause congestion, and strict studio security and control requirements—challenges that made simple IP transfer solutions inadequate.

Broadmedia deployed Signiant Manager+Agents together with a custom web orchestration system and theater-side Agents to accelerate, schedule, secure and centrally manage transfers. The solution now operates at scale—serving 120+ cinemas (127 sites), delivering tens of feature films and dozens of trailers per theater each month—and has moved thousands of trailers, ads and dozens of full-length DCPs, demonstrating that Internet-based DCP delivery is practical and scalable.
