Signiant Ices RÚV Iceland’s File Transfer Pain

RÚV, Iceland’s state-owned broadcaster, relied on FTP and WeTransfer for file-based production, leaving its Master Control Room to manage constant problems: limited server space, failed or slow uploads during procurement spikes, no notifications, cumbersome onboarding, insecure transfers, and translators struggling to access and return subtitle files. These operational and security headaches prompted the search for a better solution.

In August 2022 RÚV deployed Signiant Media Shuttle with CloudSpeX, which immediately sped transfers, reduced steps, enforced correct formats (e.g., MXF), added notifications and logs, simplified onboarding, and strengthened security. The result was smoother archive and translation workflows, measurable time and cost savings, and plans to mandate Signiant company-wide.
