Canada’s Accessible Media Chooses Signiant for Secure, Managed File Exchanges to Support Production of Accessible Content

Accessible Media Inc. (AMI) is a Canadian not‑for‑profit broadcaster that produces accessible content—including The Accessible Channel (TACtv) and the VoicePrint audio service—for viewers who are blind, low vision, deaf, hard-of-hearing or otherwise print- or access‑restricted. Faced with the need to aggregate local news and volunteer audio from 10 regional centers, produce described video and closed captioning, and meet tight, mandated broadcast schedules, AMI needed a secure, customizable way to automate and accelerate large media file transfers between its editors, Toronto headquarters and Hamilton master control.

AMI deployed Signiant’s managed file transfer technology—using agents in Toronto and Hamilton and accelerated FTP with error correction and file verification over a 10‑Gb private network—to automate point‑to‑point delivery and accommodate varied networking and production workflows. The solution sped collaboration, ensured secure, reliable transfers for QC and uplink, and helped AMI meet tight production windows to deliver TACtv and VoicePrint to more than five million Canadian homes.
