AETN UK Steps into the Future With Signiant File-Based Workflow

AETN UK, the joint venture between A&E Television Networks and BSkyB that operates channels such as HISTORY, Military HISTORY, Bio and Crime & Investigation Network, needed to replace an HDCAM tape-based workflow to deliver growing volumes of content more quickly and securely to international partners and digital platforms. As part of a wider investment that included Avid ISIS storage and Interplay management, the broadcaster sought an integrated file-based supply chain to support faster, cost-effective distribution and future VOD business models.

AETN UK selected Signiant for its ease of use and partner interoperability and deployed a Signiant Media Controller plus five agents at key sites including Sky and DMC. The new tapeless workflow immediately streamlined and secured domestic and international content movement, made VOD models viable, and provided a scalable, partner-compatible solution that will also enable receiving files from AETN and third parties.
