Process mining for increased agility and enhanced customer focus

e-regio is a regional utilities provider in Euskirchen, Germany, with about 400 employees offering electricity, gas, water and energy services like electromobility and photovoltaics. After merging gas/water and electricity operations, the company needed to harmonize processes, roles and IT, gain transparency into operations, and become more agile so it could make faster, data-driven decisions in a volatile environment and maintain strong customer service.

Using the SAP Signavio business process transformation portfolio and process mining, e-regio mapped and visualized end-to-end processes, uncovered inefficiencies (for example in grid-connection workflows), and clarified role structures. The work enabled better evaluation of automation projects, simplified requirements management via a new process manager role and collaborative modeling, faster process adjustments (e.g., in gas procurement), stronger customer focus, lower costs and higher return on investment.
