Ocean Network Express Unifying Disparate Business Processes into a Single Intelligent Platform

Ocean Network Express (ONE) is a global container shipping company formed in 2017 from the merger of three Japanese lines, operating over 250 vessels across 120+ countries with about 8,000 employees and US$14.4 billion in revenue. ONE faced the challenge of harmonizing disparate business processes, eliminating misalignment from independent practices, and shifting from reactive to strategic process management across the new unified organization.

Working with SAP Signavio (Process Manager, Process Collaboration Hub, and Process Governance), ONE built an agile, company-wide business process management platform and Center of Excellence to create a single source of truth. In nine months the team published 450 processes across 20+ countries, involved 500+ stakeholders, and delivered measurable efficiency gains—examples include up to 97% reduction in demurrage management effort in Latin America and 70–74% reductions in cut-off, booking, and issue-notice tasks—driving time and cost savings and faster cross‑functional collaboration.
