Commerz Real AG, an 800‑employee asset manager overseeing €35 billion in tangible investments and funds, faced rising competition and a sprawling IT landscape with redundant processes across some 180 applications. The company’s Transformation Office set out to increase process efficiency, transparency and governance by standardizing workflows and embedding a culture of continuous improvement.

Commerz Real deployed the SAP Signavio suite (Process Governance, Collaboration Hub, Process Explorer) alongside its SAP S/4HANA strategy to harmonize processes, create ~60 semi‑ and fully‑automated workflows, and enable faster setup of new products. The initiative uncovered bottlenecks, shifted process ownership from IT to the business, reduced process breaks and lead times, lowered costs, and set the stage for further automation and AI-driven efficiency gains.
