Case Study: Scholars at Risk saves time and strengthens advocacy with Signal Media

A Signal Media Case Study

Preview of the Scholars at Risk Case Study

How Scholars at Risk uses Signal monitor

Scholars at Risk (SAR) is an international network that protects threatened scholars and students and promotes academic freedom. Its advocacy team had been relying on Google Alerts, boolean searches, social media dashboards, and manual translation work to monitor human rights violations in higher education worldwide, a process that was time-consuming, redundant, and difficult to scale across languages and regions.

Using Signal Media’s Signal monitor, SAR created a bespoke “Higher Education” topic combined with “Human Rights Violations” to deliver a single daily alert and tailored case feeds. The result was a major efficiency gain: research and verification time dropped from more than an hour each morning to about 15 to 20 minutes, while also improving access to relevant sources and enabling faster reporting, case advocacy, and team-wide information sharing.
