Moffitt Cancer Center takes One More Step towards its Mission of Improving Cancer Care with Data Democratization through Sigma

Moffitt Cancer Center, a leading cancer research center focused on improving cancer care, needed a better way to make its vast clinical and research data accessible across nearly 8,000 employees. After moving from an on-prem warehouse to an AWS-based data platform centered on Snowflake, the organization still faced challenges with limited self-service access, a difficult legacy tool, and slow delivery of curated data for researchers and analysts.

Sigma helped Moffitt deploy a self-service analytics workbook, MCAP Explore, on top of Snowflake to enable secure, de-identified data exploration, cohort building, visualization, and faster dataset creation. With Sigma, Moffitt increased active self-service users 15X, grew usage from 20 new users a year to 133 active users in the first week and 275 within two months, and expects a 25% reduction in time and project costs for delivering research datasets.
