Blackstone Leverages Sigma & Snowflake to Perform Data Analytics at Cloud Scale

Blackstone, one of the world’s largest alternative asset managers, needed a better way to support ad hoc analysis and self-service for its finance teams. Existing BI tools like Tableau and Power BI were too technical and limited for raw-data exploration, while Excel could not handle Blackstone’s scale. The company wanted an analytics platform with the familiarity of spreadsheets, but with cloud-scale performance, collaboration, and security.

Sigma Computing, paired with Snowflake, gave Blackstone an Excel-like analytics experience purpose-built for the cloud data warehouse. With Sigma and its Input Tables, Blackstone enabled more than 700 active users to analyze million- to billion-row datasets, perform scenario modeling and root-cause analysis, and write data back into Snowflake without custom engineering work. The result was a dramatic reduction in analysis time from days to hours, faster onboarding for users, and stronger governance through a single controlled source of truth.
