K2 Space streams nearly 20 million data points per second with Sift

K2 Space, a company building high-capability, low-cost satellites, faced a significant challenge in scaling its telemetry infrastructure to handle tens of millions of data points per second generated during hardware testing. They needed a solution for real-time anomaly detection and live monitoring to prevent the loss of expensive, safety-critical assets, as most traditional and open-source time-series stacks buckled under the constraints of latency, high cardinality, and dynamic schemas. To overcome this, they partnered with Sift.

Sift provided its unified observability platform, which uses a vertically integrated data store and a proprietary two-fault-tolerant cache to enable low-latency streaming and analysis. This allowed K2 Space to monitor test stands in real-time, detect anomalies as they happen, and seamlessly collaborate on data. The measurable impact was the ability to reliably ingest nearly 20 million data points per second with write latency (p99) under one second, enabling K2 to scale its testing and production without scaling engineering hours and accelerate its development cycle.
