MTN Group - Customer Case Study

MTN Group, a multinational telecommunications company with over 227 million subscribers and 20,000+ employees across three continents, needed unified spend visibility despite running multiple ERP systems with differing master data, purchase processes and accounting practices. MTN engaged Sievo, using Sievo Data Extractor and Sievo’s procurement analytics expertise to tackle heterogeneous data extraction, categorization and data quality challenges.

Sievo implemented continuous automated extractions from 18 ERPs in eight weeks, set up monthly data refreshes aligned to MTN’s financial calendar, and took responsibility for mapping spend into a ~600‑node category tree—reaching 95% of total spend classified within 12 weeks after extraction. As a result, Sievo delivered a unified, week‑post‑close spend view, improved categorization granularity and data quality, and enabled analytics for fraud detection, supplier base management, payment process optimization and supplier‑tail management to drive MTN’s procurement transformation.
