A Siemens PLM Case Study
Summits Hygronics, an industrial machinery and equipment manufacturer in India, needed to move beyond its traditional 2D design process. The company struggled with long design lead times, poor product and assembly visualization, inaccurate BOMs, and delays in releasing ECNs, which made production planning and design sign-off difficult. It used Solid Edge from Siemens PLM Software to address these issues.
With Siemens PLM’s Solid Edge, Summits Hygronics moved to 3D design with synchronous technology, automatic drawing creation, and BOM generation. The company said it prepared 95 percent of the BOM during the design phase, cut its design cycle by 40 percent, virtually eliminated re-work, and increased new business by 30 percent.
