University of Adelaide creates 25-year asset investment plan with Brightly Software

The University of Adelaide, a top-ranked Australian university with a portfolio of over 300 buildings, faced significant challenges in managing its complex and aging asset portfolio. Following financial pressures, the university needed to move away from an opinion-based investment model to a data-driven one. It partnered with Brightly Software to create a robust, long-term asset investment plan that could balance funding levels with acceptable risk and objectively prioritize renewals.

Brightly Software implemented its Predictor modeling and decision support tool to develop a 25-year asset investment plan. This solution enabled the university to run "What-If?" scenarios, predict building deterioration, and visually communicate the impact of different funding levels to leadership. As a result, the University of Adelaide identified an optimal short-term funding reduction with an acceptable level of risk, embedded evidence-based planning into its decision-making process, and continues to enhance its strategic asset management.
