City of Asheville raises facilities maintenance budget to $3.5 million with Brightly Software

The City of Asheville, a growing municipality with aging infrastructure, faced the challenge of managing facility maintenance with an insufficient annual budget of $1 million. They needed data to demonstrate the necessity for increased funding to prevent their buildings from deteriorating. Brightly Software's Asset Essentials was already in use for work orders, and the city engaged Brightly to implement its Predictor software to conduct a comprehensive facilities condition assessment.

Using Brightly's Predictor software, the city was able to model future asset conditions and present data-driven predictions to city council. This proved that the current budget was inadequate and successfully made the case for a significant budget increase. As a direct result, the city council approved raising the annual preventative maintenance budget from $1 million to $3.5 million to properly maintain municipal buildings and extend their lifespans.
