Centrica, one of the UK’s largest multinational energy suppliers, needed a better way to capture and act on employee ideas in a fast-changing energy utility market. The innovation team wanted to improve operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and business performance, and worked with Sideways 6 using an employee ideas programme integrated with their existing Yammer network.
Sideways 6 helped Centrica launch the “Make A Good Idea Count” (MAGIC) campaign, giving employees a simple social platform to submit, discuss, filter, and track ideas. This led to hundreds of ideas being implemented, including a call-centre text-back suggestion that was trialled in Cardiff and Mumbai and delivered an estimated £5 million in cost savings, a 15% increase in customer satisfaction, and near-zero repeat customer outreach.
