Discovery generates 274 ideas across 20 countries with Sideways 6

Discovery, a media company with 10,000 employees, sought to create a company-wide culture of innovation across its 20 EMEA countries. Their initial program, Spark Innovation, relied on Google Forms, which resulted in heavy manual labor for management and a lack of transparency for employees. The challenge was to scale the initiative, making it more engaging and efficient while reaching harder-to-engage employees.

With the vendor Sideways 6 integrated into their existing Workplace from Facebook platform, Discovery created a streamlined idea management system. Employees submitted ideas via the social tool, and the Sideways 6 chatbot engaged them for more details. This solution led to a massive increase in participation, with 274 ideas submitted in one campaign—a fourfold increase from the previous year. The measurable impact included 87% of employees feeling happy with the program, 76% feeling their ideas were heard, and several ideas being implemented, such as new content initiatives and onboarding benefits.
