The customer, HP, faced the challenge of automating the production of custom foot orthotics by replacing manual, error-prone measurement methods with a reliable digital process accessible to clinicians. They partnered with the vendor Sidekick to develop a mobile solution that could integrate with 3D scanning hardware without sacrificing medical precision.

Sidekick built a native iOS application that integrated the Occipital 3D Structure Sensor scanner and the iPad's TrueDepth Sensor. This solution streamlined clinician workflows, significantly reduced measurement time, and improved consistency. The results accelerated the rollout of HP's Arize network across the U.S. as clinicians adopted the tool quickly without extensive technical training.
