Mere Green Primary School - Customer Case Study

Mere Green Primary School, a traditional Nursery–Year 6 school and resource base for students with speech and language difficulties in North Birmingham, faced the challenge of teaching 32 SEN/D pupils alongside mainstream peers in inclusive classrooms. The school had introduced iPads but lacked a platform to turn devices into effective teaching tools — after visiting Olive Tree Primary, staff identified Showbie as the missing link to make tablets work within the curriculum.

Mere Green piloted Showbie with Year 3, using its voice recording and assignment features to differentiate lessons for diverse learners. Showbie enabled a three-tiered writing approach (voice notes → typed draft → handwritten final), supported nonverbal and elective-mute students to participate, and delivered a significant increase in SEN/D students’ writing competence, improved handwriting, and greater engagement and confidence across the class.
