How Showbie is Connecting Teachers and Students in the Azle Independent School District

Azle Independent School District, a Texas district with 10 schools, one alternative center and roughly 7,000 students in a 1:1 iPad program, needed a streamlined workflow so students could share and preserve creations made with apps like Puppet Pals, PicCollage and Book Creator. Teachers and ICT staff struggled because students had no email addresses and many apps weren’t LMS-compatible; a kindergarten teacher recommended Showbie as a simple, paperless workflow solution with an intuitive layout and Portfolio feature.

Showbie was adopted as the district’s workflow and portfolio tool, letting teachers collect work from other apps, give on‑the‑fly feedback, and retain student portfolios year to year. With Showbie and on‑demand support from instructional technologists, adoption spread K–12 by word of mouth, reduced printing and paper use, and helped teachers showcase progress during parent meetings—benefiting about 7,000 students across Azle Independent School District and producing a confident, district‑wide edtech practice after four years.
