A Showbie Case Study
Drayton Hall Elementary School, the first school in South Carolina to implement a 1:1 iPad program, faced the challenge of rolling out device-based learning without a playbook: getting teachers and parents on board, supporting classroom collaboration, and understanding how technology affected student learning. To support those goals the school paired district-issued iPads with apps including Showbie to connect classrooms, families, and school leaders.
Showbie was used for teacher–parent communication, daily visibility into student work, and as a centralized repository where teachers upload student samples for leadership review. By improving parental buy-in, teacher–student collaboration, and administrative insight into classroom tech use, Showbie helped Drayton Hall sustain its 1:1 program and demonstrate continued innovation—evidenced by repeated invitations to apply for Apple Distinguished School (ADS) recognition and its role as a Technology Showcase School.
