A Showbie Case Study
Bertram Primary School in Australia faced the challenge of implementing a BYOD iPad program in a public school setting where many families were hesitant about the cost and impact of devices, and the school could not achieve a full 1:1 device ratio. To create a consistent digital workflow across shared devices and address unreliable AirDrop sharing, the school introduced Showbie, a digital classroom platform for sharing, storing and accessing student work on any iPad.
Showbie let students sign into any shared iPad and pick up assignments where they left off, giving teachers a single place to create, share and monitor work. As a result Bertram increased BYOD participation from about 20% to 45% schoolwide, sustained 55% of students using shared devices successfully, and secured Apple Distinguished School recognition in 2015 (renewed in 2017). Showbie also boosted teacher confidence to digitize lessons and expand digital learning across the school.
