How Chubbies Got One Million Views on a “Dad Bod” UGC Contest

Chubbies Shorts, the men’s clothing brand known for its cheeky “Sky’s out, thighs out!” slogan, wanted to take greater control of its marketing channels — especially social and email — by running a user-generated content contest to find diverse, “real” brand models. To do this they needed a platform that could host a microsite, collect entries, gate voting, prevent fraud, and drive social sharing and email sign-ups.

Chubbies Shorts used ShortStack’s contest platform and campaign tools to run the 2018 Chubbies Man Model Search, implementing voting restrictions, share prompts, and email automation. The campaign generated 1.1 million contest views, 334,000+ votes, 6,600+ entries, produced 20 finalists and 11 winners, and added 37,000+ new email subscribers — demonstrating ShortStack’s effectiveness in driving engagement and growing Chubbies Shorts’ owned channels.
