How a digital magazine used a personality quiz to drive engagement and lead generation

Timbuktu Labs, the indie publisher behind the Rebel Girls franchise, needed a fresh marketing approach to promote its new digital magazine, Rebel Girls Boundless, and drive engagement and lead generation. To reach and convert their audience in a non-promotional way, they partnered with ShortStack and used ShortStack’s Personality Quiz template to build a branded interactive campaign.

Using ShortStack’s Personality Quiz template, Timbuktu Labs launched the “Discover What Kind of Rebel Girl You Are” five-question quiz with a simple email opt-in and webhook integration to their email platform, and promoted it across Facebook, Instagram, Google Display and Rebel Girls channels. The campaign delivered 15,637 views in June (11,119 unique, ~71% unique), generated 3,047 leads (~100 per day) and 120 shares, helping Timbuktu Labs grow the Rebel Girls Boundless subscriber list and adopt quizzes as a core engagement tactic — all enabled by ShortStack.
