A Focus On Leads (Not Social Media) Increased Engagement

Camp Chef ran the “Grillionaire Sweepstakes” from August–December 2018 to collect leads for their email list. They initially built the campaign with ShortStack but switched to Gleam in November to chase social engagement — which backfired, lowering entries and engagement — and then returned to ShortStack to refocus on lead collection.

Using ShortStack’s embedded campaigns and features (points-per-field, refer‑a‑friend, visibility settings, autoresponders and the Multi‑Day Giveaway Calendar), Camp Chef regained momentum and met their lead goals: the sweepstakes generated 140,196 entries, 624,107 views (379,728 unique views, >60%) and 29,475 shares over five months; by contrast, the month on Gleam produced only ~300 shares. ShortStack’s tools also enabled daily entry in December and drove the campaign’s strong finish, expanding Camp Chef’s mailing list and site traffic.
