Helping Scribe Media collaborate with hundreds of writers and editors

Scribe Media, an Austin-based book-creation company that works with a global network of more than 150 freelance “scribes,” struggled to manage onboarding, assignments, payments and performance across a patchwork of Trello, Wufoo/Google Forms, Dropbox and Slack. To centralize and streamline these workflows, Scribe selected Shortlist’s freelancer-management platform to replace the fragmented systems and reduce manual effort.

Shortlist migrated Scribe’s freelancer database and deployed a custom, self-service onboarding workflow (launched August 2017) that aligns with Scribe’s bidding-based assignment process. By automating invites, document signing and status tracking and enabling instant assignment requests once freelancers complete onboarding, Shortlist dramatically cut the time and resources required to manage freelancers and delivered a much smoother book-creation process—“it’s given us our time back,” says Scribe Media.
