Smith.ai uses Shortcut’s API to save time for both their receptionists and engineers

Smith.ai, a provider of virtual receptionist and live chat services, faced a challenge in efficiently managing internal support requests from their busy receptionist team to their engineers. The process involved toggling between multiple software systems, which disrupted workflow and created inefficiencies for both teams. To solve this, they turned to the API from their project management vendor, Shortcut.

Using the Shortcut API integrated with Zapier, Smith.ai automated the creation and assignment of tasks, or 'Stories'. When a receptionist tags a request, a Story is automatically generated in Shortcut with all necessary details for the engineer. Upon completion, the system notifies the receptionist. This solution streamlined operations, saving significant time for both receptionists and engineers by keeping them focused within their primary tools. Shortcut's API provided the flexible integration needed to seamlessly connect their disparate systems.
