The University of Edinburgh’s Accommodation, Catering and Events (ACE) department needed a better way to manage staff scheduling across a large, diverse catering operation. With around 250 staff working across 30 locations and handling complex contract types, pay rules, holidays, overtime, and visa limits, the team turned to ShopWorks for support.

ShopWorks implemented a transparent workforce management solution covering scheduling, holidays, payroll, overtime processing, and reporting. The University of Edinburgh reported a robust audit trail, a useful dashboard, strong reporting, and smooth implementation, with improved accuracy in bespoke payroll exports after some initial setup time. After four years using ShopWorks, both managers and employees were strong advocates, and the university planned to roll the system out to other parts of ACE.
