White Moose is a Melbourne-based homewares brand that carved out a niche by offering bold, unconventional pieces alongside handmade local items. Faced with a crowded market and limited start-up funds, the founders focused on designing distinctive products that push customers’ comfort zones and sourcing samples from manufacturers in China while also working with local artists.
They developed a collaborative product process, prototyped samples, and sold initially at markets before expanding into wholesale (trade shows), a flagship stall in South Melbourne Market, and an online store driven by social media. Using Shopify POS and the Quantity Breaks app for wholesale, and handling fulfillment in-house for quality control, White Moose now supplies over 200 stockists and has grown steadily without taking loans.
