Ventana Surfboards & Supplies, based in Santa Cruz, set out to tackle the surf industry's environmental footprint by making the most eco-responsible surfboards and gear they could. Unsure how the market would react, they started by building a small, curated line of products they wanted themselves—reclaimed-wood surfboards, bodysurfing handplanes and wooden surf tools made in a barn workshop, plus eco-friendly apparel and locally screen-printed shirts—anchored to brand values of craftsmanship, responsibility and adventure.

They launched with a holiday pop-up and promoted via press, social and word of mouth, and sales were strong from day one. Today they sell through occasional retail pop-ups and wholesale, run operations on Shopify with POS, QuickBooks and social/email marketing, ship in-house (moving soon to a local distributor), and are exploring BrandBoom for wholesale—building a sustainable business that resonates with customers and grows steadily.
