Top of the World is Ottawa’s oldest and largest skate shop, owned by Eric Dionne and Corey Hackett and known for stocking top industry brands and supporting Canada’s skate community. Despite strong local presence, the business relied entirely on in-store sales and a “prehistoric” POS/inventory system and had no online store or digital inventory until 2013.

In 2013 they moved to Shopify, adopting Shopify’s in-store POS and centralized inventory management, which streamlined operations, saved time, and let them track everything in one place. Their online store has steadily grown as a share of sales, and their simple, practical advice to new ecommerce entrepreneurs is to be patient and keep things uncomplicated.
