Tomlinson’s, a family-owned holistic pet supplies retailer with 18 locations in central Texas and a growing ecommerce business, needed a faster, more unified checkout experience. Before switching vendors, its in-store POS process was slow and cumbersome, with discounts requiring extra taps and the system not fully integrated with payments or online sales. The company chose Shopify and Shopify POS to simplify operations and support its Pet Club membership discounts.

With Shopify, Tomlinson’s implemented a unified POS setup and a custom discount app built using Shopify Functions, enabling automatic discounting across online and in-store transactions. The results were strong: average in-store checkout time dropped by 56%, taps at checkout fell by 46%, and new-hire POS training time decreased by 32%. Shopify also enabled seamless membership management and more flexible promotions with zero extra steps for discounts.
