The Bearded Bastard - Customer Case Study

The Bearded Bastard, an Austin-based groom­ing brand that started with a handmade natural mustache wax, grew organically from friends and local barbershop support into an online-and-wholesale business. Early challenges included chaotic, manual order taking and shipping (originally via Facebook, SMS, and in-person deliveries), lack of tracking, and no coherent inventory or fulfillment system to support multi-channel sales.

They migrated to Shopify and then built a fulfillment stack—ShippingEasy at first, later ShipStation for unified order import and label printing, and Ordoro for inventory and purchase-order management—while using Amazon FBA for select items. Daily ShipStation workflows, packing-list photos, and integrated shipping calculators reduced errors and streamlined shipping via USPS/FedEx, enabling reliable multi-channel fulfillment, smoother wholesale operations, and continued growth with plans to add a customer-service app.
