SweetLegs Migrated 21 Days Before Black Friday, Then Broke All Its Holiday Records

SweetLegs, a fast-growing Canadian leggings brand founded by Chris and Addie Pafiolis, faced a crisis when its WooCommerce site crashed on Black Friday 2016, costing the company six-figures and exposing chronic scalability problems despite expensive hosting upgrades. With the next holiday season looming, SweetLegs needed a reliable ecommerce platform fast and ultimately migrated to Shopify Plus just weeks before Black Friday.

Working with Shopify Plus and partner Port80, SweetLegs completed the migration and launched a stable site in time for the holidays; the platform handled the surge without outages, processing nearly 11,000 orders over Black Friday/Cyber Monday and delivering roughly $2M in first-month sales. By adopting Shopify automation tools (Launchpad, Scripts, Flow) the company streamlined promotions, checkout and backend workflows, drove a 40% year-over-year sales increase in early 2018, and shifted its focus from uptime worries to scaling fulfillment.
