A Shopify Case Study
Salt City Emporium, a Salt Lake City-based kids’ clothing brand, was founded to fill a gap in boys’ apparel—styles beyond the typical fire trucks and camo. After early success selling on Etsy, the founder moved the business to Shopify to gain stability and control as demand grew. All products are sourced and manufactured in the U.S., and the company expanded from a home basement to a downtown studio with several employees and a dedicated production area.
To scale, Salt City Emporium leaned on Instagram and an early influencer program to drive sales, with Facebook and Pinterest supporting traffic. They run operations with Shopify, ShipStation, Digital Downloads and murm.io, handling fulfillment in-house and using ShipStation to separate retail and wholesale orders. The approach paid off: wholesaling now accounts for about 90% of the business, and the team and production capacity have expanded accordingly.
