Petro Defense, based in Zephyrhills, FL, saw a growing need for security products in the gas station industry that competitors weren’t addressing. The founder sourced an impressive fuel dispenser lock from a manufacturer who’d struggled to enter the market, negotiated a master distribution agreement, and launched a dedicated Shopify store focused on gas station security equipment.

To market the product the business combined targeted cold calls to local gas station maintenance companies with its online presence, and began receiving “surprise” paid orders directly through Shopify. Orders are paid via standard Shopify payments and drop-shipped by the manufacturer (each lock is custom-made for maximum security), and the mix of direct outreach plus organic website traffic has produced steady sales and inbound orders.
