NumNum, an Atlanta-based baby-products company, created the NumNum GOOtensil to solve a common parenting problem: babies who are ready to self-feed but lack the motor skills for a spoon. Founders turned sketches into a product with an industrial designer, used his manufacturing contacts in China to source suppliers, and launched on Shopify.

They launched primarily via social media and blogging partnerships—earning their first sale within an hour—and grew into retail channels including buybuyBaby, Bed Bath & Beyond and Nordstrom.com while keeping about 25% of sales direct-to-consumer. Operationally they use Shippo for shipping and Giftery.me for wish lists, handle fulfillment in-house, and are beginning to outsource international shipping.
