Modko is a Brooklyn design company founded by Rich Williams and Brett Teper after Rich couldn’t find a litter box that matched his apartment’s aesthetic. They designed the Modkat Litter Box, debuted it at the 2009 International Contemporary Furniture Fair (winning Editor’s Choice and later a Red Dot Design Award), and partnered with a longtime production contact in Taiwan to manufacture their full product line.

Their design-forward solution and overseas manufacturing partnership drove strong early momentum — major press (including the New York Times’ “iPod of Litter Boxes”), Shopify and Amazon storefronts, and international distribution. Back-end tools like a customized Retina theme, ReferralCandy, Yotpo and Shippo support the store, and moving fulfillment in-house improved turnaround times and pricing, helping Modko scale sales globally.
