A Shopify Case Study
Mission Belt, founded in Orem, Utah in 2012, is a social clothing company that chose a simple, universally used product—a durable, no-holes belt—as the vehicle for its mission to help people lift themselves out of poverty. Designed in Utah and manufactured in China, the challenge was to create a high-quality product that communicated the company’s social mission while building sustainable sales and distribution channels.
To solve that, Mission Belt focused on product quality, storytelling and multichannel sales: early growth came from word-of-mouth and door-to-door outreach, then a strong Shopify-based online presence expanded into big-box stores and other retailers. Operationally they standardized fulfillment and customer communication using ShipStation, a fulfillment house plus in-house shipping, MailChimp for marketing and Yotpo for customer insights—resulting in increased traffic, retail expansion and stronger customer engagement.
