Magnolia Market uses augmented reality to bring Waco to the world

Magnolia Market, the retail arm of Chip and Joanna Gaines’ home‑furnishing empire born from HGTV’s Fixer Upper, turned a pilgrimage‑style store at the Silos in Waco into a global ecommerce destination. The challenge was translating that highly tactile, place‑based shopping experience into an online format that conveyed the same emotional and visual detail for customers who could never visit in person.

Working with Shopify’s AR team and powered by Shopify Plus, Magnolia built an augmented‑reality app using Apple’s ARKit to create hyper‑realistic 3D renderings that let shoppers place products virtually in their own homes. The result: strikingly lifelike product visualizations, a seamless brand experience across channels, and an online shopping journey that closely mirrors the in‑store magic of the Silos.
