A Shopify Case Study
LSTN Headphones is a West Hollywood headphone brand built around a social mission: founded after the founder saw the impact of hearing restoration, the company donates a portion of proceeds to the Starkey Hearing Foundation. The challenge was breaking into an already crowded headphone market where existing products didn’t meet their standards for sound, design and environmental responsibility.
They launched quickly on Shopify, using strong product photography, a mobile-responsive theme and apps like Shop Transfer, Store Locator and Happy Ending to drive discovery and sharing. Sales grew from a direct-to-consumer website (April–August 2013) to placement in retailers such as Whole Foods and Nordstrom, while remaining primarily online—and to date LSTN has helped restore hearing for 15,000 people across Peru, Los Angeles, New York, Kenya and Uganda.
