Kinobi is a Melbourne-based multi-brand lifestyle boutique launched in 2014 that curates independent designers and limited-edition, handmade pieces not widely available in Australia. Founder drew on five years’ fashion/design experience and sourced stock from local and international designers (often via social media) to fill a clear market gap — then faced the twin challenges of building brand awareness on a tight budget and managing growing order fulfillment personally.
Kinobi relied on Instagram and collaborations with stylists, photographers and online publications, loaning samples to create strong imagery that drove interest, and supplemented online sales with regular pop-up events. A site blog and targeted MailChimp campaigns boosted traffic and conversions; most sales now come from a mix of online channels and pop-ups, fulfillment remains in-house for now, and the business is scaling up and exploring fulfillment alternatives as demand grows.
