Joker Greeting - Customer Case Study

Joker Greeting, founded by two brothers in Irvine, CA, makes prank musical greeting cards that keep playing until the battery dies. After two years of planning and six months of development with several design iterations (including durability testing), they launched on Kickstarter April 1, 2015. The challenge was turning a viral product idea into a sustainable business while outsourcing manufacturing, managing fulfillment largely solo, and converting Kickstarter momentum into ongoing sales.

They ran a standout Kickstarter video that raised $92,073 in 30 days and generated major press pickup, leading to nearly 3,000 backers and about 8,000 cards sold. Today they sell mainly through their Shopify store (using Bundles by Bold Apps, Conversio/Receiptful, Shopify postage and heat maps via sumome), plus wholesale to US, UK and AUS retailers. The result: strong direct sales, good SEO from the campaign, repeat customers using discount offers, and controlled, sustainable growth.
