A Shopify Case Study
Skinnydip London, launched in 2011 by Lewis Blitz and brothers Richard and James Gold, turned a playful take on tech accessories into a fast-growing fashion brand. The company faced the challenge of scaling retail and wholesale operations internationally—building a flagship retail presence, managing concessions and distribution across markets, and supporting rapid online growth and high-profile brand collaborations.
To solve this, Skinnydip built a multi-site Shopify setup (including POS in-store and a unique Shopify-backed wholesale backend), upgraded to Shopify Plus, redesigned the site, and ramped up email and social marketing and brand partnerships. The results: over 150 concessions in 60+ countries and a Carnaby flagship, about 100k monthly unique visitors and 15x social growth, sales up more than 20x year-over-year with record single-day revenue after a Simpsons collaboration, and expanded U.S. distribution to support international demand.
