Rhone Apparel, founded by Nate Checketts, is a premium men’s activewear brand that set out to occupy the gap between mass-market giants and narrow niche players by targeting sophisticated, performance-oriented men. Born online, the company faced skepticism and the challenge of building real-world customer connections and product feedback while competing against much larger brands.
Rhone adopted a hybrid commerce strategy: ecommerce plus wholesale, pop-up stores and events, and Shopify Plus for unified online/offline sales, POS, and fast integrations. Pop-ups in SoHo created 3D customer experiences that drove deep engagement and real-time product feedback (leading, for example, to a best-selling lined short), while centralized reporting and scalable infrastructure supported marketing spikes and operational growth — contributing to a 500% sales increase in 2015 and improved retention and product development.
