Hello May is a Sydney-based bridal magazine created for creatively inclined, fashion- and design-loving couples. Spotting a gap in the market, the founder edits and designs the magazine in Sydney and prints in Queensland, keeping the product 100% Australian-made, while facing the challenge of building an audience and driving sales for a new niche publication.

To launch and sell issues they started a blog in October 2012 to build anticipation before the first issue in December 2012, and used social media to drive readers to their Shopify store. Using Shopify’s basic setup and a website promo tile that highlights new issues, their site now generates the most traffic and sales; fulfillment is handled in-house (even hand-delivered to the post office), and their top tips are professional product photography and active social media.
