HalflifeUSA - Customer Case Study

HalflifeUSA, based in Kissimmee, FL, is a clothing brand on a mission to help end homelessness by donating 10% of sales, using up-cycled fabric from people who have experienced homelessness, and breaking down stigma through visibility and employment opportunities. The company faced the dual challenge of building a sustainable apparel business while creating meaningful social impact and pathways to work for shelter residents.

HalflifeUSA’s three-tiered solution combines donations, upcycled garments, and the STEP program—a 28-foot mobile manufacturing trailer that hires, trains, and employs shelter residents to produce the clothing. Using Shopify (with apps like Zopim) and USPS fulfillment, the brand earned its first sales from friends and family and quickly scaled online orders; the platform streamlined operations and helped convert sales into tangible social outcomes—jobs, awareness, and ongoing support for shelters.
