Belle Helmets - Customer Case Study

Belle Helmets, a New York–based maker of hand-painted bicycle helmets, started when the founder redesigned bulky, uninspired helmets for personal use and public attention. Early demand outgrew a simple gallery-and-PayPal site, so the business needed a scalable ecommerce solution to showcase designs, handle custom orders, and reassure customers about safety and fulfillment.

Moving to Shopify and using apps like Product Customizer, MailChimp and Zopim, plus a bulk supplier (Seven Star Sports), let Belle rapidly add designs, accept custom logos, and streamline sales. The result: sales surged, the catalog grew to 80+ designs, production runs about 20 helmets a week, and products now sell through Shopify, 14 retailers, custom requests and street sales—driven by Instagram, blogs and word of mouth—while lowering unit costs and fueling creative growth.
