Circle Strings uses ShopBot Desktop to make guitar parts 75% complete before hand-finishing

Circle Strings, a custom guitar maker owned by luthier Adam Buchwald, faced the challenge of scaling his handmade instrument business while maintaining precision and efficiency. To grow sustainably, he needed to incorporate computer-aided manufacturing into his traditional workshop process and chose to invest in CNC equipment from vendor ShopBot Tools, Inc.

ShopBot provided a solution starting with the purchase of a ShopBot Desktop CNC router, chosen for its size, price, and precision. This was later supplemented with a larger ShopBot Buddy to handle bigger parts like guitar necks. The implementation allowed Circle Strings to use CNC for about 75% of the part creation, which is then hand-finished. The results included significantly improved precision and repeatability, enabling Adam to produce parts for his own guitars and for a neighboring luthier, which helped sustain and grow his business.
